Respect means
– To admire (someone or something) deeply,
as a result of their abilities, gender, qualities, authority, office, spiritual status or achievements.
have due regard for (someone’s feelings, wishes, or rights).
“I respected his views”
Charity begins at home:
Respect is an attribute, an obligation and moral act that a person practices towards his family first,
And then after that, it’s transformed into the act of giving honor,
(giving honor to the one that it’s due),
reverence, tithing, taxing, servitude, obedience, submissiveness, etc.
The attribute of respect is synchronized in all the social interactions of exchange that we do as humans.
Social activities like;
Paying rent, doing business, parents & children, family, student & teacher, timekeeping,
the passing down of spiritual or cultural inheritance,
the art of giving names, sowing & harvesting etc,
all these social & cultural activities are synchronized with the attribute of respect (mutual respect).
Respect (mutual respect) can also be a type of positive moral exchange, barter trade,
which is done in business, marriage or community via a person’s character.
On a spiritual level:
Obedience towards God’s commandments produces the fruit of respect in one’s character.
Practiced respect or the character of respect,
Can become the moral attribute which enables a person to relate,
and understand the concept of worship, adoration, reverence
and honor which is done when a person is glorifying God on a spiritual level.
Because; “if a person can not show respect towards the human being that he or she can see,
How can that person reverence and worship God that he has never seen”?
Acts of respect that are practiced by different cultures:
– When people in the same house wake up, they greet each other by saying “good morning or how was your sleep”?
– In Uganda women “kneel down” while they are greeting
– Honor given to the elders in society,
– Gestures of greetings done towards the people you meet in your community
– Paying for the services you receive
– The honoring of marriage principles that derive from the bible etc…
How come that we lack respect in our communities?
The western ideology of extreme democracy is the violation and opposition,
that was structured to destroy the moral principles of mutual respect in families and nations ….
