The cultural event that took place in the Elgon Region in Mbale caused a very outspoken outrage of emotional distress in the region:

On the 11th of June 2022 a cultural event was held in Mbale City.

On the event we had different cultures of Uganda showcasing their cultural dances,

But when it came to the Mbale (Abamasaba, bagisu) culture,

the young girls who represented the Elgon region were displayed in a manner that was displeasing, and outraging as they paraded,

these young girls were made to show off their breasts widely open for every body to see…

Here are some copied and pasted duscussions of the people in some of our WhatsApp groups,

people expressing their disapproval, and opinions…

Maria Matembe said in the news paper…

I Condemned the elders who looked on while the youn girls were paraded, calling them (elders) hyenas,

and she demanded that the organisation that presided over the event should be closed down.

My argument is very simple. Don’t use the innocent girls and put stress on their families by your selfish targets.

Be sensitive to the young girls by being objective. The best you can do is front to redefine our culture…

Now am begining to understand you, am now getting into your brains,

unfortunately you are voicing your concerns on a wrong forum, this forum is based on promoting tourism in all possible ways,

so unless you have ideas on religious tourism that you can front, then you are welcome,

what happened was cultural tourism like come the 15th we shall be in mutoto with our imbalu tourism,

if you are not comfortable then stay home, do not go there because come rain come sunshine,

whether you parade a roadblock of the best partors you can get,

we shall reach mutoto then you can rain your curses upon us but we bagisu shall be there,

we shall do what we do best, we shall go witness our imbalu, for it is what we are. Am done talking.

I really think when such negative incidents occurs,

like this one of displaying young children like this;

They come to challenge us to unite our energies as a collective unit,

But when we keep on passing blame, that puts us into the status where we loose ground upon which we can be united…

Remember that as our cultures keep on displaying nakedness, being vulgar, insulting towards God and immoral in nature,

We as a people we are loosing out, and becoming captives to the agenda of the western world that wants to control, colonize and enslave us.

Remember we as Africans we are so vulnerable, that the only weapon which we can use against those that want to control us,

That weapon is God…..

But if our cultures are promoting all types of sexual immorality,

streaping naked and parading our children like as if we parading prostitutes on the street,

and marketing them for clients to buy sexual entertainment,

When God gets uppset 😡 with us, who are we left with to save us from the white people,

who are claiming our subjection as their slaves,

Who will stop them from coming into our land, and taking what belongs to us as their own possessins, WHO?

Let us be wise, and stop arguing and being devided over issues that just turns us into political groupings of oppositions,

which are designed to benefit the white man and his agenda…

Before we loose every thing.

When I insult my brother or my sister, and he comes to me, to tell me that its not right what I have done,

(these children which were paraded belong to fathers and mothers),

If the organiser or any body feels that they have a democratic right to use other people’s children,

so that they may make an event which proclaims them as the great event organisers,

Let that person know that;

Those children are not his or hers,

They belong to someone, and that someone has the right to fight for the rights that defines the positive, godly morals of his own children.

And again;

If you come to me as a neighbour, and you tell me that I have insulted you,

or I have taken what belongs to you by force;

And then I start to claim my democratic rights of free expressions, and how I can take what is yours and use it in any a way I like,

Is that not how the white Europeans came and took us as slaves,

and they are still taking from us and taking our land, resources, minerals etc,

to the fulfilment of their own pleasures and interets?

Why are we then doing the same to our own people?

Father in heaven please convict our hearts, so that we may return back to your truth!
