The Quraysh (Arabic: قُرَيْشٌ, Hejazi pronunciation: [qʊrajʃ]) are a mercantile Arab tribe that historically inhabited, and controlled the city of Mecca and its Ka’ba.

The Quraysh’s progenitor was Fihr ibn Malik, whose full genealogy,
belonged to the Kinana tribe and his descent is traced to Adnan the Ishmaelite, the semi-legendary father of the “northern Arabs”.
Why were they called the qurayshi?
The word “al-Qureshi” itself is attributed (النِّسْبَةُ) to the Quraysh tribe (قُرَيْشٌ), meaning that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was a man who came from the Quraysh tribe.
It also means that one of the ancestors of the Prophet ﷺ must be named Quraysh.
The Islamic prophet Muhammad was born into the Hashemite clan of the tribe.
The Hashemite quraish clan derived from Ishmael the son of Abraham, Abraham being the son of Shem.
Quraish clan were merchants skilled in trading:
Their mercantile or schemes in merchandising,
and trading were inherited traits deriving from their pilgrimage of Mecca which they spiritually contaminated from the Kaaba in Mecca.
The kaabah location in Mecca is said to be the location where HaSatan was dropped on the earth after being thrown from Heaven.
Ezekiel 28:14-16:
14 “You were the anointed cherub (Angel) who covers; I established you;
You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones.
15 You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created,
Till iniquity was found in you.

Casted or thrown down on the earth where the kaaba is located:
Ezekiel 28:16:
16 “By the abundance of your trading You became filled with violence within, And you sinned;
Therefore I cast you as a profane thing Out of the mountain of God;
And I destroyed you, O covering cherub, From the midst of the fiery stones.

Despite this, many of the Quraysh staunchly opposed Muhammad, until converting to Islam en masse in c. 630 CE.
The Quaraish Arabs were not Muslims, they were pagans who worshiped the different pagans gods among the 360 deities of the Kaaba in Mecca.
They were the Arab people of which Muhammad was a member, before he converted to Islam.
After converting to Islam, and the proclamation of Allah being the only true supreme God,
Muhammed decided also to claim the Kaaba in Mecca as his place of pilgrimage.
Quraysh (Arabic: قُرَيْش, “Chapter Quraysh”) is the 106th chapter (surah) of the Qur’an consisting of 4 verses (ayat).
The surah was titled after the word “Quraysh” in the first verse.
