The Youth in the Kigezi Region have been strongly urged to refrain from using energy drinks, which they consum thinking that;
after drinking them they will be able to perform better sexually….
Mbwatekamwa pointed out that there are currently over 50 brands of energy drinks available, potentially posing health risks due to their unregulated nature.
We are in the 8TH MONTH called “CHESHVAN” on God’s calendar: Started on 2nd November & Ends on 1st DECEMBER 2024
This heartfelt plea was made yesterday during a productive one-day dialogue, where young leaders from the Kigezi Sub-region congregated to discuss pertinent issues affecting the youth in their locality.
Most of the these brands (drinks) claim to have health benefits,
But when you closely investigate their ingredients,
some even contain a mixture of alcohol, and other dangerous inputs, which has the ability to affect the lives and health of the youth negatively.
Dr. Nabwire highlighted that the efficacy of energy drinks such as Kituzi and Mukama Nayaba Energy Drink is questionable and potentially harmful.
She stressed that attempting to showcase exaggerated virility to one’s partner through the use of such products is unnecessary and ill-advised.
The youth are rising up in organised community roles, where they are engaging in discussions that points out the things (traps) in form of drinks,
and other substances, which are hindering them from achieving their progress in life.
The focus of their discussion extended to vital aspects like confidentiality, gender considerations, the right to make informed choices, and the importance of providing evidence-based information to young people, particularly in Kampala.
